STATEMENT

 

Mi trabajo gira en torno a las problemáticas de la industria alimentaria moderna, que se perpetúan en un entorno en el que hemos perdido el contacto con los orígenes, el medio natural y la procedencia de nuestros alimentos. 

 

Mi discurso se centra en los nuevos modelos de producción de alimentos en un sistema dictado por intereses económicos y especulación con los bienes naturales. Y se ha visto reforzado después de haber sufrido un problema de salud que me obligó a cambiar mis hábitos alimentarios.

 

Con una trayectoria de varios años de investigación en este campo, trato de profundizar en este discurso para indagar en la realidad contemporánea de la industria alimentaria y sus contradicciones.

My work focus on the main problems of our habits in today's consumer society and the issues of global commerce.

 

My project, called "Naturaleza muerta por asfixia" (Suffocated but Still Life), started in 2010 by a personal experience. After suffering an illness I became more conscious and concerned about the modern food industry and its problems. 

I started to question the system in which we are used to eat processed food, it is normal to buy precooked dishes, packaged and rationed fruit and vegetable and we even allow the use of Genetic Modification just to achieve a better appearance and shelflife for these products.

 

My art work tries to encourage people to be more conscious about the modern lifestyle habits, where citizens lose

contact with the origin of the products that we consume on a daily basis, in a society where more importance is given to the appearance than the quality.
